Flavourful & Tadkedar performances mark the 11th Annual Function celebrations at Chitkara International School

Chandigarh : Chitkara International School (CIS), Chandigarh, celebrated its 11th Annual Event with splendour, joy and excitement. Dr Vijay Namdeorao Zade, IAS, Finance Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, UT Chandigarh and Ms Hargunjit Kaur, IAS, Special Secretary Finance presided over the Annual Day Celebrations as Chief Guests. Michelin Star Chef and cook-book author Mr Vikas Khanna also graced virtually the event and addressed the audience through a live video message.
Dr Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, and Chairperson, Chitkara International School, Chandigarh and Panchkula, and Dr Niyati Chitkara, Director, Chitkara International School, Chandigarh and Panchkula, extended their warm welcome to the guests.
The festivities of the Annual Event began with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the dignitaries.Theme of the 11th annual function was “Spice Box – Masale Swad Anusar”, which was manifested through a large human-sized motorised spice making equipment against a magnificent backdrop of world map, showcasing the origins of different spices.
The Event showcased a magnificent myriad of performances to showcase spices from around the world. The students were dressed up with beautiful attires and headgears that were specially designed to showcase the different variety of spices.
Each student at the school is given the opportunity to take part in the event and explore and showcase their ability.The event was organised upholding CIS’s endeavour of imparting superlative education through effective art integration in consonance with the mission of the CBSE, NEP 2020, and the SDGs.
The event proved to be an amazing opportunity for students to learn about different spices, team spirit during preparations, an outlet for artistic expression, and overcoming stage fright. The event also aided students in understanding the value of spices.
The school exhibited a beautiful array of spices from around the world comprising mixed spices, paprika, nutmeg, black pepper, cardamom, saffron, asafoetida, carom seeds, oregano, turmeric, etc., and their various aspects such as aroma, texture and benefits were elucidated by the students from kindergarten to Grade 12 in their own endearing and artistic ways. In line with the same and to further apprise the students with different spices a cart filled with spices was pushed around the school and showcased to the students.
In the 3 days celebrations, which started on 21st Dec 2022 and concluded today, Day 1 was filled with riveting performances of the avid Chitkarians from Chicklets to Grade 2. Day 2 of the merry celebrations witnessed performances by the students from Grades 3 to 6 and on Day 3 students from Grade 7 to Grade 12 displayed their energetic moves and serenaded the audience with their melodious voices.
Witnessing their magnificent performances, parents and teachers in the audience felt a sense of pride and accomplishment in the children’s achievements.Concluding the entertainment-filled event Dr Niyati Chitkara said, “I wholeheartedly appreciate the time taken by the Honourable Chief Guests and Guests of Honour for gracing this event.
Your participation added great value to the occasion and CIS is deeply honoured by your support.
