3rd Edition of Flagship Engineering Conference ICAN 2022 held at Chitkara University

Rajpura : Chitkara University recently organized the 3rd edition of its flagship engineering conference – International Conference on Computing, Analytics and Networks (ICAN 2022) with technical sponsorship from IEEE. The prime objective of organizing this conference was to provide a platform for young researchers to share their research work with the community and obtain feedback from the leading experts of the world in the domains of computing, analytics and networks.
The conference witnessed 58 paper presentations by these young researchers that were evaluated by the leading experts including academicians and industry professionals. These 58 papers were shortlisted after a rigorous peer review process from a total of 252 submissions that were received from more than 16 different states of the country and 5 foreign countries.
More than 250 reviewers were involved in the review process. The conference was attended by a total of 200 delegates from all over the world at Chitkara University, Rajpura campus.The conference was inaugurated with a video message by Dr. Madhu Chitkara–Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University followed up by a formal inaugural address by Dr. Archana Mantri – Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab and the General Chair of ICAN 2022. This was followed by two keynote talks by Dr. Neeraj Kumar (Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology) and Dr. Manish Kumar (PEC, Chandigarh).
Dr. Neeraj spoke on the topic of Digital Twins for Industrial Automation and the title of Dr. Manish’s talk was Data Mining and Analysis of Indian Origin Academicians in Foreign Universities. The inaugural ceremony was concluded with a Vote of Thanks that was proposed by Dr. Rajnish Sharma (Pro VC, Academics Affairs, Chitkara University, Punjab and Secretary, IEEE Delhi Section).
The next session after the inauguration featured two invited talks by Dr. Pao-Ann Hsiung (National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan) and Mr. Aswini Thota (Bose Corporation, USA). The titles of their talks were Trustworthy AI for Sustainable Smart City Development and Cold-start Forecasting: A Deep Learning Approach, respectively.
Day 1 of the conference featured 18 paper presentations in two parallel tracks, and each track also featured an expert talk by Dr. A.K. Sharma – Principal Scientist, ICAR, NDRI and Dr. Jagreet Kaur Gill – Director, Xenonstack Pvt. Ltd., respectively.
Day 2 began with an invited-talks session wherein two leading researchers, one each from India and USA were invited to share their expertise and give research direction to the budding researchers. Dr. Aneek Adhya from IIT Kharagpur spoke on the topic Use of Machine Learning in Communication Networks: Some Use Cases and Dr. Bonny Banerjee from The University of Memphis, USA delivered his talk on the topic Predictive Coding Agents.
Finally, there were 40 paper presentations conducted in 6 tracks and each of these tracks was chaired by an expert from academia. These experts were Dr. Deepak Punetha (VIT, Vellore, TN), Dr. T Ananth Kumar (IFET College of Engineering,Villupuram, TN), Dr. Piyush Kumar Shukla (Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, M.P.), Dr. Rajandeep Singh (GNDU, Amritsar), Dr. Surbhi Bhatia (King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia), and Dr. Shalini Stalin (IIIT Bhopal, M.P.).
Additionally, each track also had an expert from Chitkara University as session chair as well and these were the faculty members and researchers from Chitkara University, including Dr. S.N. Panda, Dr. Jagdish Lal Raheja, Dr. Shalli Rani, Dr. Abhishek K Pandey and Dr. Shivendu Prashar.All the presented papers in the conference will be sent for IEEE consideration for publishing them in IEEE Xplore. The conference was convened by Mr. Sagar Juneja – Assistant Dean, CURIN, Chitkara University.
