Professor of Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University awarded with prestigious Dr. P.N. Pathak Memorial Award-2022

Amritsar : Dr. Inderpeet Kaur, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University has been awarded with prestigious Dr. P.N. Pathak Memorial Award-2022 by Association of Separation Scientistsand Technologists (ASSET), Radiochemistry Division, BARC, Mumbai.
This is a National Award constituted by ASSET for researchers who have excelled in the field of Separation Science & Technology. This award is presented biennially to one researcher of Indian Nationality. The award carries Gold medal, Citation and Rs. 50,000 Cash prize.
The award was presented byPadam Vibhushan Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Former Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission of India, during inaugural ceremony of 10th Biennial Symposium on Emerging Trends in Separation Science and Technology (SESTEC-2022).
Dr. Kaur also delivered Dr. P.N. Pathak Memorial Award lecture at SESTEC-2022.Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S.S. Behl, Dean Academic Affairs and Prof. K.S. Kahlon, Registrar congratulated Dr. Kaur for her achievement.
Prof. Sukhprit Singh, Head, Department of Chemistry has said that Dr. Kaur has carried out pioneering work on development and deployment of uranium and other potentially toxic elements (PTEs) scavenging materials having significant technological advancements both incolumns and membranes to purify groundwater for the sake of environmental sustainability and human welfare.
The proposed remediation technology can be easily adapted for the treatment of PTE contaminated or uranium prevalent groundwater at domestic, community and industrial scale.Her research work also includes the development of innovative electrochemical sensorsespeciallycarbon paste electrodes (CPE) for trace level detection of different PTEs in environmental and biological samples.
