23 lakh saplings to be planted under Integrated Development Project : Govind Singh Thakur

Shimla : Forest Minister Govind Singh Thakur presided over the review meeting of the development works of ‘Integrated Development Project’ (IDP) through video conferencing here today. During the meeting, he said that the main objective of the project is to establish balanced environment and to increase the income of the farmers through agriculture, besides providing livelihood and employment opportunities at panchayat level.He said that forest, agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, rural development and Panchayati Raj departments would be inter connected under this project. Under the Integrated Development Project, Rs 30 crore 75 lakh has been allocated to meet the target of planting about 23 lakh saplings in an area of ​​3181 hectare this financial year. He directed to constitute committees at the earliest in all panchayats of the state, so that the benefits of this project could be extended to maximum number of villagers.Govind Singh Thakur said that under Clean Development Mechanism the income of the people of the state could be enhanced from carbon revenue through group plantation drive. He said that so far, people have benefited by plantation of carbon revenue of more than rupees two crore.Principal Chief Conservator Ajay Kumar and District Project Officers also attended this meeting.
