Jai Ram Thakur interacts with the intellectuals of Palampur town during Budhijivi Sammelan

Palampur : Palampur town of Kangra district was an important town of the state from historic, cultural, political as well as tourism point of view. Therefore the government on demand of people of Palampur town had decided to upgrade this town into Municipal Corporation. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said this while interacting with the intellectuals of the town during the ‘Budhijivi Sammelan’ at Rotary Club Palampur in Kangra district today. Chief Minister said that the state government during the last three years has created 379 new Panchayats, 7 Nagar Panchayats and three Municipal Corporations in the State to ensure equal and balanced development of these areas with active participation of people. He said that the Congress during the last 50 years has only created one Municipal Corporation. He said that an amount of over rupees five crores has been provided for various development works in Palampur town.Jai Ram Thakur said that Municipal Corporation would ensure planned and systematic development of Palampur town. He said that some vested interests were misleading the people of Palampur regarding alleged taxes.He said that no taxes would be levied from the people of the new Municipal Corporation for a period of next three years. He said that the government was committed for retaining the old glory of Palampur town. He said that efforts would also be made to create better infrastructure facilities in the town.Chairman Wool Federation Trilok Kapoor welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries on the occasion.Speaker Vidhan Sabha Vipin Parmar, Industries Minister Bikram Thakur, MLAs Vishal Nehariya and Mulkh Raj Premi, Former MLA Praveen Sharma were also present amongst others.
