Shimla : While addressing the Virtual Rally of BJP Mahila Morcha from Shimla today,Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government was committed for welfare and empowerment of the women in the State. He said that several schemes have been launched for the economic upliftment and social empowerment of the women.Chief Minister said that the State Mahila Morcha has done a commendable work in preparing and distributing face masks and face covers to the people of the State. He said that the Mahila Morcha has also played a key role in providing ration and cooked food to the needy at the time of curfew in the State.Chief Minister said that the able leadership in form of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken timely steps to check spread of the virus. He said that the decision of lockdown by the Prime Minister has helped in checking the spread of this virus. He said that due to the timely decision taken by the Prime Minister death rate in India due to Corona was very less as compared to most of the developed nations of the country. As many as 4.75 lakh people have lost their lives due to Covid-19 in fifteen most developed countries with a total population of 142 crore whereas in India with a population of 135 crore have reported over 13,000 deaths due to corona till date.Jai Ram Thakur said that the situation in the State was quite under control as out of the total 701 cases of Corona virus, 420 have been cured. He said that at one stage there was only one Covid-19 case in the State, but the number rose due to about two lakh people of the State stranded in different parts of the country who were brought back by the State Government.Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh was the first State in the country to provide fifty percent reservation in the Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies. He said that this has not only ensured participation of women in development and policy making, but also ensured their empowerment. Jai Ram Thakur said that one cannot even imagine of development of the society without the development of the womenfolk. He said that thus the State Government has launched several schemes for the women empowerment. He said that free gas connections have been provided to 2.76 lakh families under State Scheme Grihni Suvidha Yojna and 1.36 lakh connections under Ujjawala Yojna. He said that Rs 500 each have been deposited in the accounts of 5.90 lakh eligible women under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna during the months of April, May and June.Two minute silence was also observed on the occasion in honour of the Galwan martyrs.

Now Article 370 and 35 A has become history and India now has one Constitution and one Symbol, she said that this was possible due to the strong leadership at the Centre in form of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said that CAA was a historic step taken by the Union Government and the people of the State were behind this decision as this would help in providing citizenship to the minorities coming from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan due to religious discrimination in these countries.National President Mahila Morcha Vijaya Rahatkar while addressing the rally from Aurangabad said that the present BJP Government at centre has completed one year in office. She said that this one year has witnessed launch of several schemes for ensuring women empowerment. She said that all these schemes have been helping in the socio-economic upliftment of the womenfolk. She said that Mahila Morcha has also played a major role in the Covid-19 pandemic, by providing the needy face masks and sanitizers, besides sensitising the people regarding importance of social distancing in checking spread of the virus. She said that Crores of Rupees have been transferred into the accounts of the women of the country under the Jan Dhan Yojna. She said that One Nation One Ration Card scheme launched by the Union Government was a yet another scheme for the welfare of the weaker sections and womenfolk. She appreciated the steps taken by the State Government for containing the spread of Corona virus in the State.President State Mahila Morcha Rashmi Dhar Sood while welcoming the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion detailed various activities of the State Mahila Morcha and said that about 28.50 lakh face masks were prepared and distributed by the women associated with the Morcha.Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, former MP Bimla Kashyap Sood, Organization Secretary Pawan Rana, General Secretary BJP Trilok Jamwal, General Secretaries Mahila Morcha Vandana Guleria and Sheetal Vyas, General Secretary Child Welfare Council Payal Vaidya were present on the occasion.
