Jai Ram Thakur presides over 7th BoD meeting of HP Kaushal Vikas Nigam

Shimla : Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over the 7th meeting of Board of Directors of H.P. Kaushal Vikas Nigam here today directed the officers to ensure time bound completion of the ADB funded $ 100 million H.P. Skill Development Project to upgrade the skill of the youth of the State.Chief Minister said that the project envisages creation of more productive workforce in the State which would be equipped with market relevant technical and vocational skills. He said that the project aimed at upgradation of 150 Industrial Training Institutes from SCVT to NCVT across 25 trades, upgradation of nine employment exchanges into Model exchanges.Jai Ram Thakur said the State Government had approved construction of Centre of Excellence for Tourism Hospitality and Information Technology at Waknaghat in Solan district under H.P. State Development Project. He said that the committee would be constituted for preparation of expression of interest and procurement of equipments for this institute. He said that work on this institute should be taken in hand at earliest so that youth could be benefitted from it.Chief Minister said that more than 6500 students of the State were pursuing NSQF aligned training courses being executed through various programmes such as Graduate Add on Training, trainings through ITIs, training through Training Service Provides and Flexi-MOU under the ADB funded Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Project. He said that the training of majority of these ongoing batches were due for completion by June, 2020 and about 5000 candidates had completed 70 percent of training hours at the time of lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic. He said that since only those candidates were considered eligible for the assignments who have atleast 70 percent attendance proportionate to total number of training hours. Therefore, keeping in view the lockdown, candidates may be considered for issuance of certificates.Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Industries Minister Bikram Singh, Senior Head NSCDC Jai Kant Singh, Managing Director F- Tec Co-Founder Believe India, Lytha Malikarjuna, State Coordinator, H.P. Kaushal Vikas Nigam Naveen Sharma gave their valuable suggestions in the meeting.Managing Director, H.P. Kaushal Vikas Nigam Rohan Chand Thakur conducted the proceedings of the meeting.Chief Secretary Anil Khachi, Principal Secretary Finance Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretary Labour and Employment K.K. Pant, Secretary Rural Development Dr. Sandeep Bhatnagar and other officers also attended the meeting.
