Transport Minister Govind Singh Thakur presides over meeting of the Transport Department

Shimla :Transport Minister Govind Singh Thakur presided over the meeting with the Transport Department, here today. Transport Minister said that in the wake of COVID-19, the State Government decided to resume the HRTC bus services to facilitate people of the State. He said that the private operators were also doing well during this pandemic and they should be encouraged.Transport Minister said that the State Government has decided not to increase the bus fare, to avoid any kind of financial burden on the people of the State. He said that the Corporation was making all out effort to achieve the budget announcement of the State Government. POS machine have been set up at Regional Transport Office and Regional Licensing Authority, along with computerization of the Transport Department to facilitate the people. About Rs. 16 crore and 50 lakh has been provided by Centre Government for Inspection and Certification Centers.Minister said that keeping in view the increase in transport facilities in the State, work on new parking and bus stands have been started. To facilitate the people of the State, the vacant post of the Corporation would soon be filled. New electric buses would be purchased keeping the topography and environment conservation in consideration. The barriers of the state would be made hi-tech and black spots would be identified.During the meeting it was also decided to start CNG buses in industrial areas and setting up of petrol pumps in far flung areas.Principal Secretary K.K. Pant, Managing Director Yunus, Director Capt. J. M. Pathania and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
