Fever corners to be set up in government hospitals in view of increasing dengue cases in Haryana : Anil Vij

Chandigarh : Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that in view of increasing dengue cases in the state, fever corners would be set up in government hospitals to prevent vector-borne diseases. Apart from this, he said that for the prevention of vector borne diseases, one fogging machine would be taken for each ward of urban area and every village of the state.
He said that vehicle mounted machines should also be placed in urban areas. Apart from this, he instructed the officers that wherever there is water logging in the state, spraying of insecticides and oil should be carried outso that the larvae do not born.
Sh. Vij was presiding over a review meeting regarding vector borne diseases with the officers of Health and Family Welfare Department, Development and Panchayat Department and Urban Local Bodies and other concerned departments, here today.
Instructions to civil surgeons, issue advisory about dengue and form teams to conduct door-to-door campaign for awareness among people – Vij
Sh. Vij appealed to the people of the state to remove stagnant water from their homes and keep water tanks, water coolers etc. clean so that diseases like dengue do not occur. Instructing the concerned officers and civil surgeons of all the districts, Sh. Vij said that they should also issue advisory in this regard in their respective districts and awareness should also be given about it.
He said that a door-to-door campaign should also be conducted to create awareness among the people by forming teams of the health department.
Dengue notified disease, Strict action will be taken regarding non-reporting of dengue cases by private hospitals and private laboratories – Vij
Regarding non-reporting of dengue cases by private hospitals and private laboratories, Sh.Vij said in a strict tone that civil surgeon officers will have to form teams and check these private hospitals and private laboratories from time to time as it is a notified disease. He said that strict action will be taken against those hospitals and laboratories which do not report these cases.
Issue challan and notice to the concerned if larvae are found – Vij
The Health Minister said that notices and challans should also be issued to those in whose homes larvae are found. In this regard, it was told by the officials of the Health Department that till now 65711 notices have been issued to such people. Sh. Vij said that Gambujia fish should be released in all the water bodies of the state so that larvae will not born.
In this regard, Health Department officials said that so far Gambujia fish has been released in about 8050 identified water bodies. Vij said that information regarding the symptoms of dengue should also be included in the advisory being issued so that people can get themselves tested if they have such symptoms. To this, the officials said that dengue test is free in state government hospitals while platelets are also free of cost.
772 cases of dengue reported so far
During the meeting, Sh. Vij was apprised that 43 cases of chikungunya have been reported in the state so far while 35 cases of malaria have been reported. Similarly, 772 cases of dengue have been reported so far.
The Health Minister was apprised that so far 23128 dengue samples have been taken in state government hospitals out of which 630 have been found positive while 4578 samples have been taken in private hospitals out of which 142 have been found positive.
During the meeting, the Health Minister was informed that 27 dengue testing labs are operational in the state and samples are being taken in all civil hospitals, CHCs and PHCs. The minister was informed that the dengue test has been fixed at Rs 600. In addition, the facility of single donor platelets is being provided across the state at locations like Gurugram, Karnal, Panchkula, Rohtak, Sonipat, Faridabad and Hisar.
So far the number of dengue patients in Haryana is less than states like Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi
It was also informed in the meeting that so far 853 beds have been reserved for dengue patients in government hospitals and 560 domestic breeding checkers have been deployed to eliminate mosquito breeding. There are 5606 hand operated and 43 vehicle mounted fogging machines in the state, which are doing fogging.
It was told in the meeting that, however, the number of dengue patients in Haryana is less as compared to states like Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi. During the meeting, Sh. Vij also inquired about the increasing cases in Rohtak, Yamunanagar, Rewari and Gurugram and also gave necessary instructions.
He said that for the prevention of vector borne diseases, we have to strengthen the clinical management and we have to work on war footing from now on, considering the coming trends of dengue disease.
During the meeting, civil surgeon officers of all the districts of the state connected through virtual mode, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Dr. G. Anupama directed that they would have to monitor the dengue cases on a daily basis and keep a close watch on all the fever cases that are being reported.
During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Development and Panchayat Department Sh. Anil Malik told that fogging has been done once in each panchayat of the state and the next round of fogging will also be started soon.
In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Dr. G Anupama and Director General of Health Services Dr. Sonia Khullar and Director Dr. Randeep Singh Poonia also gave necessary instructions to the officers and civil surgeons of the health department.
During this, civil surgeons of Gurugram, Rohtak, Jind, Yamunanagar and Mahendragarh gave information about dengue and other vector borne diseases of their respective districts and the steps and actions taken by them were also shared.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary of Development and Panchayat Department Sh. Anil Malik, Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. G. Anupama, Special Secretary of Health Department Sh. Raj Narayan Kaushik, Director of Urban Local Bodies Department Sh. Yashpal, Director General of Health Services Department Dr. Sonia Trikha and Director Dr. Randeep Singh Poonia and other officers ofHealth and Family Welfare Department, Development and Panchayat Department and Urban Local Bodies Department were also present.
