Bankim Chandra’s life inspires me to lead BJP : J.P. Nadda

Kolkata : Bankim Chandra, who penned the National Song, acts as an inspiration to lead the BJP and its nationalist ideology, said party national president J.P. Nadda on Wednesday here.Nadda began his two- day West Bengal visit by making a trip to Vande Mataram Bhavan at Chinsurah in Hooghly district, where Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay penned the National Song.

“The National Song of India, which he penned here, was the inspiration of the freedom movement in India. His life inspires me to work for the nation, lead my party and its nationalistic ideologies,” Nadda told newspersons after coming out of the Vande Mataram Bhavan.

Nadda is scheduled to attend the state executive council meeting at the National Library in Kolkata. After that he will also attend a closed-door meeting with the elected BJP Lok Sabha members and legislators from the state.

There he is expected to address the infighting in the party and the exodus of senior leaders from the BJP.Nadda arrived in Kolkata late Tuesday evening and had a short meeting with senior party leaders from the state like BJP’s state president and party MP, Dr Sukanta Majumdar and the leader of the opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari.

In the meeting, Nadda made it clear that the political situation in West Bengal was different from other states. Issues that are working in favour of the BJP in other states are not yielding the same results in Bengal, sources said.

Highly placed BJP sources said that Nadda emphasised that the state BJP leadership should go all out in organising movements in the state on the issues of corruption like West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment irregularities scam.

He also emphasized that the state BJP leader should have to fight their own battles at the grassroots levels in the state and no one from outside will come and win the battle for them.
