There is no better gift than providing warm clothing to the needy street children during the winter season : Harjinder Kaur

Chandigarh: Keeping in mind the idea of helping the street children from getting sick in this chilled winter, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) distributed warm blankets to underprivileged children at Circus Ground, Sector 34- Chandigarh and Grain Market, Sector 39, Chandigarh indentified during inernship program while doing mapping of street children along with DCPU. Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR, Chandigarh highlighted that for most of us, the idea of winter means cuddling under the blanket for warmth, lying in our comfort zone and sipping coffee sitting beside the fire. But for those on the streets, with every drop in the temperatures it’s a fight for survival.

Lakhs of homeless experience bitterness of winter and are at a great risk of suffering from severe illnesses. Under such circumstances street children are the most badly affected ones. The rise in air pollution levels and the early onset of winter this year have made them more vulnerable, but at the same time it has given us an opportunity to serve humanity by donating blankets to these street children. There cannot be a bigger satisfaction than saving life of impoverished children. During this event, street children were also advised to develop personal hygiene habits. They were made aware of following COVID protocols such as washing their hands, use masks, maintain social distance by the members of commission.Dr. Monica M Singh, Member, CCPCR, Mrs. Pooja Punchhi, Member, CCPCR, Mr. Kartar Singh, Legal Consultant, CCPCR and Ms. Tabusam khan, District Child Protection Officer were also present during this event.
