Awareness events, pledge ceremonies held to mark National Voters Day celebration in Jammu Div

Jammu : A series of awareness events were today held across Jammu division to mark the celebration of Voters Day. At Samba: District Administration Samba organized a programme, in-which newly enrolled voters were given EPIC cards, while a symposium was also held on the topic ‘election process and principles of democracy’.District Election Officer, Rohit Khajuria, presided over the programme, themed, “Making our voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed”
The Students of the Government High School Jakh, participated in the symposium. Jhanvi Sharma & Aditya Sharma spoke on the importance of the election process and principles of democracy.In his address, the DEO said that the elections in our nation touches every human and educating the young generation about democratic principles should be given utmost importance. He said the recently concluded elections of District Development Councils have seen a huge participation of voters in Samba district which reflects the awareness of the citizens about the democratic process.Later, Electoral Photo Identity Cards (Voter ID cards) were distributed among the newly enrolled students, while an elderly voter, Kaushalya Devi and a PwD voter Vijay Kumar were honoured for their participation in the elections by presenting them mementos.
At Kathua: The 11th National Voters Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across Kathua district.The day-long celebrations started with an awareness programme cum Pledge taking ceremony held in the premises of Government Degree College for Women, Kathua under the supervision of District Election Officer Om Prakash.The DEO greeted the people and impressed upon the need to make fair use of the right to vote. He said the aim of celebrating National Voters Day was to encourage the eligible Voters to register their names and educate them about the ethical and qualitative participation in the electoral process.A symposium was also organised on the theme of National Voters’ Day where college students presented their views on the importance of Right to franchise.Similar programmes were organized in other parts of the district.
At Reasi: The National Voters’ Day 2021 was celebrated across the Reasi district to create awareness about the election process and maximise the enrolment of new voters.Speaking at the main function, District Election Officer, Indu Kanwal Chib, said the Day is intended to spread awareness on the importance of voting rights. She also urged the youth to compulsorily enroll to secure their voter ID card and exercise their franchise during the elections.Voter ID cards were also distributed among the newly enrolled voters.
At Kishtwar: National Voters’ Day was celebrated with fervour and enthusiasm here under the chairmanship of District Election Officer, Ashok Sharma.The students spoke and highlighted the importance of celebrating National Voters’ day and participation in the electoral process.A pledge was also administered to the participants, while newly registered voters were given EPIC Voter Cards. Several officers and officials were felicitated for their outstanding performance in the smooth and peaceful conduct of recently held DDC/PYT. By -elections.Earlier, the DC underscored the importance of observing the National Voters’ Day and highlighted this year’s theme of ‘Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed.’The objectives of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program and other informative campaigns of ECI were also highlighted by the DC.Similar programmes were held at the tehsil headquarters across the district.
At Doda: To mark the 11th National Voters’ Day and to encourage newly enrolled voters for participation in the electoral process an impressive function was held here on the theme “Making Our Voter’s Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed.”District Election Officer, Dr Sagar D Doifode was the Chief Guest on the occasion. At the outset, the DEO administered pledge to the participants. He threw light on the importance of elections and the history of extension of universal voting rights to all adult persons.Meanwhile, a series of activities were held including administration of pledge to the participants, debates, felicitation of officials for their outstanding performance in the DDC/Panchayat Bye Elections 2020 in the district.Similar functions were also held at Sub-Divisions, Tehsil and Booth levels.
At Udhampur: Like in other parts of the country, an impressive function was organized by District Administration Udhampur to celebrate National Voters’ Day.District Election Officer, Dr Piyush was the chief guest on the occasion.The function started with the lighting of the traditional lamp. The District Election Officer handed over EPIC cards to the newly registered voters.Posters created by students of different schools were displayed through virtual mode. The District Election Officer also administered a pledge to the participants ‘to uphold the dignity of elections and to vote in the elections without any fear, inducement or influence’.In his address, the chief guest said that the main objective of celebrating this day is ‘to strengthen our democratic system by creating awareness among the young and future voters about the importance of their vote.’ He stressed on the enrollment and registration of all the eligible voters of the district and urged the participants to generate awareness among their circles.SSP, Sargun Shukla, President MC Jogeshwar Gupta, DDC members and ADDC, Ashok Kumar also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the importance of national voter’s day.
At Rajouri: District Administration Rajouri celebrated the National Voters Day to encourage the eligible youth to take register as voters and take part in the Election process.The Day began with an awareness rally comprising students, officers from civil and Police administration, Civil Society members and PRIs . The rally was flagged off by the District Election Officer , Rajesh K Shavan. The rally started from DDC Office Complex and culminated at PWD Dak Bunglow.The main event was organised at Dak Bunglow Rajouri.Addressing the gathering, the DEO greeted the people on the Voters Day and laid thrust upon the need to make fair use of their right to the adult franchise. He said that the day aims to ensure that all the eligible voters are to be registered and to make them understand the value of their ballots.The DEO also distributed EPIC cards among the newly enrolled voters besides a pledge taking ceremony was also held on the occasion. The officers and officials of different departments were felicitated for their extraordinary performance in the recent election to elect the District Development Council.A pledge taking ceremony was also organised during the event.Similar programmes were organized in all other subdivisions of the district.
At Poonch: To commemorate the foundation day of Election Commission of India and to encourage the young generation to exercise their franchise, the District administration Poonch on Monday celebrated the 11th National Voters Day with the theme, “Making our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed.On the occasion, an awareness rally was flagged off by the District Election Officer, Rahul Yadav. The rally started from the DC Office complex and culminated at GDC Poonch.The Students from different schools were carrying placards with slogans on importance of Voters and Voting for strengthening democratic system.Addressing the gathering, the DEO highlighted the importance of the day and said that the Election Commissions objective behind celebration of National Voters’ Day is to increase enrolment of voters, especially of the newly eligible ones, by using this occasion to make universal adult suffrage a complete reality.A pledge taking ceremony was also held at the event.
At Ramban: District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Mussarat Islam, administered the Voter pledge to the participants at the National Voters’ day function held here at Government Higher Secondary School, Ramban.Similar programmes were also held across the district amid strict adherence to COVID-19 protocol.The Day witnessed various events on the theme “We are Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed.”A symposium was also held in which a good number of students participated. They highlighted the importance of the day and significance of Indian electoral process besides achievements registered by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in its long journey.Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that ‘we are marking the day as the foundation day of the ECI. He urged the youth to enroll themselves to obtain their EPIC which is a document of pride for all Indian citizens.Besides the SSP, ADC, Dy. DEO and many other speakers highlighted the importance of the day besides encouraging the youth to become part of the world’s largest democratic process.Later, the DEO also flagged off an awareness rally of the students of different schools.Earlier, the DC along with other guests felicitated several officers and officials for their exemplary contribution in recently held DDC elections. He also awarded the winners of symposium with certificates.
