CAO calls on Chairperson DDC Udhampur

Udhampur : Chief Agriculture Officer Udhampur Sanjay Anand today met with Chairperson District Development Council Udhampur, Lal Chand in his office Chamber to apprise him about the first successful trial of Milky Mushroom the cultivation of in the District.
The CAO apprised the DDC Chairperson that Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Department Udhampur has conducted successful trial run of Milky Mushroom in the District after 10 years. He said that most of the growers or cultivators depend on Button Mushroom & Dhingari.
“From now onward, they will get another season of crop which will enhance their income & keep them busy throughout year” he added.Explaining further, the CAO said “Milky Mushroom (Calocybe lndica) is cultivated from June to September & is a substitute of Button & Dhingari during the hot & moist season.
So, the growers can rotate their crop throughout year and which will be helpful for the unemployed to get employment during the lean period.”As per the CAO, Milky mushroom is more muscular, elongated with quite thick base and having more Shelf life than other mushrooms after picking”.
The Chairperson DDC Udhampur Lal Chand congratulated the Chief Agriculture Officer Udhampur and his entire team for putting in sincere efforts to achieve this success. He said that it was a new beginning in mushroom sector which will lead the farmers towards prosperity and create self employment avenues for Agropreneurs .
