Director Animal Husbandry Dr. Shubhra Sharma reviews performance of Department

Jammu : Director, Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Shubhra Sharma today chaired a meeting of Veterinary Assistant Surgeons of Jammu district here at Conference Hall of Directorate of Animal Husbandry Talab Tillo, and reviewed their performance.
At the outset, the Chair hailed the efforts put in by the officers to control Lumpy Skin Disease in the district and stressed on completion of the vaccination of all the left out susceptible cattle population before 25th of this month.
The Director had a detailed review of different flagship schemes of the department viz. Integrated Dairy Development Scheme, Integrated Poultry Development Program, Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme, National Animal Disease Control Programme for FMD and Brucellosis and Livestock Insurance under National Livestock Mission.
While discussing the progress under Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme, the Chair emphasized upon the importance of Artificial Inseminations in ensuring breed improvement of local cattle and buffaloes.
She further directed to enhance the coverage of the programme significantly especially the recently introduced Sex Sorted Semen aimed at achieving more than 90 percent female births.
In view of the existing gap between the physical Artificial Inseminations done and data uploaded over INAPH portal, the chair directed the concerned officers to clear the pendency on this account and upload the remaining data at an earliest.
Deliberating upon the status of progress achieved under Cattle Insurance component of National Livestock Mission in the district, the chair emphasised that efforts shall be made to cover maximum cattle population under its ambit in a time bound manner.
The meeting was attended by CEO Livestock Development Board Jammu, Dy. Director (AH) Jammu, Dy. Director Poultry, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Jammu, Publicity & Extension Officer, Livestock Development Officers Akhnoor/Jammu/RS Pura, officers from the Technical section and Publicity Wing of the Directorate besides all the Veterinary Assistant Surgeons of Jammu district.
