DLSA Kathua organises awareness programme on POCSO & JJ Act

Kathua : District Legal Services Authority Kathua, under the supervision and guidance of Pr. District and Sessions Judge Kathua, Jaffer Hussain Beg, who is also the DLSA Chairman, on Thursday organised an awareness program on “Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012(POCSO)” & “The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015” here at Govt. Middle School, Dhanna of Zone Lakhanpur.
The programme was organised in collaboration with Legal Cum Probationary Officer, Juvenile Justice Board Surbhi Abrol, Deputy Legal Aid Defence Counsel Adv. Puneet Kumari and Panel Advocate Jyoti Dwidevi, who were also the resource persons.
The objective of the program was to spread awareness about the issues related to Sexual Exploitation of the children and  the Constitutional Rights and other Legal Protections available to the Children.
The Resource Persons deliberated upon the core issues of the subject and sensitized participants about ‘Good Touch and Bad Touch’ in a simple manner.  They were also briefed about the working of Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare Committee etc. and a dedicated Child Helpline No: 1098.
Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua Rekha Kapoor Nischal, while interacting with the students of Govt. Middle School, Dhanna called for spreading awareness on POCSO and Juvenile Justice Act for wider dissemination.
The proceedings of the Program were conducted by Panel Advocate Upasana Gupta whereas welcome address and vote of thanks was presented by Kamal Khajuria, (Teacher and also Counsellor, Guidance and Counselling Cell of Govt. Middle School, Dhanna).
The program was attended by faculty members, students of GMS Dhanna, parents, panchs, sarpanchs, and Para Legal Volunteers of District Legal Services Authority Kathua.
