Meet Ishrat Rasheed, First International specially-abled Female basketball player from Kashmir.

But She Fought Back And Became International Wheelchair Basketball Player from Valley.Ishrat said, “I never thought I would be able to go this far,” I saw some boys play wheelchair basketball ,which boosts my morale, I never played basketball I join the team Practised and cut for two national events.Her journey is surprising and nothing short of remarkable due to a grave spinal cord injury after Accident to reaching an international stage.Ishrat fell down from the second floor of her house and suffered a spinal injury in 2016, leaving her wheelchair-bound.She talked to news agency, that she heard of a camp being held for specially-abled basketball players at Srinagar indoor stadium.She belongs to Baramulla and used to travel all the way from Baramulla to Srinagar for daily practice and trials before the lockdown but soon after the spread of the novel Coronavirus, they players are away from the routine practice,he added,She told, last year when Communication was restricted After the abrogation of Article 370 It was Indian Army and J&K Police who traced and informed her that she has been selected to represent India at International event.They Informed me that I had to go to a national camp in Chennai. The camp was held on August 28 and they was informed on 26 August Somehow, I managed to make the cut for the international event. I will be going to Thailand Pattaya she added.I am very happy that After my videos seeing many other specially-abled girls have also taken to wheelchair basketball in Kashmir.I thank all those people who helped her in the journey and the best possible support of my family, J&K Police, Indian Army.she belongs to a poor family and no one come forward for help her exclude 52 RR Wing of Indian Army the only helping hand for her and they made her dream of playing national and international basketball as true.Ishrat told,Her message for the girls in Kashmir “you should not think that they are disadvantaged. If I can reach this far on a wheelchair, You can even surpass me,” Ishrat said.
