Mining without Environmental clearance goes unabated in Pulwama

Pulwama : Mining Without Environmental Clearance goes unabated in Raimbiara Lassipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. After non local contractors secure majority of the mining beats was auctioned last year in Kashmir.Deputy Director Geology and Mining Dr Amberjeer Singh told, that we didn’t permission of extraction of mining yet only for some developmental works but contractors violate rules of Department and started work and we will action upon him, but it is the responsibility of district administration to check this illegal mining as hundreds of tipper’s passes around town and Police station’s which they don’t act on him.Sources in the mining and geology Department said, they have paid only half payment so far and started work without environmental Clearance didn’t follow protocol given by Department.According to locals the non local contractors dig the the Raimbiara rivulet around 15 feet where order is to dig only 4 feet and why is Department silent on the issue if not stopped or checked it will have serious consequences to environment aswell as local populace here especially orchardists in the area.Sources in the department told, they( non local Contractors)have doing himself work and our Department didn’t issued any order so far extraction of minerals.They added, Contractors told they extract Mineral’s for Developmental purpose but they have to do work as per rules and guidelines which they will not follow so far in Rivulet.Locals appealed Governer Administration to look into this sensitive Issue which will impact environment and livelihood of the area.
