MVD organises valedictory function to mark end of Road Safety Week

Samba : Department of Motor Vehicle, in collaboration with District Administration Samba today organised an valedictory function to mark the end of the week long National Road Safety week here today at Shivam Palace Ghagwal.
DDC Member, Suresh Kumar;  BDC Chairman, Vijay Tagotra; Transport Commissioner, J&K, Rahul Sharma; Deputy Commissioner Samba,  Anuradha Gupta, Project Director NHAI, Additional Secretary Road Safety Committee, Adl SSP Samba, SDM Ghagwal, team of Doctors from AIIMS Jammu, other members of PRI, students of GDC, members NCC, Drivers, Locals besides others were also present.
Speaking on the occasion Transport Commissioner appreciated team MVD Samba for successfully conducting an array of activities under the theme Swachta Pakhwada 2023 and sensitised different sections of society on road safety week contours.
He laid emphasis upon providing the community volunteers with the skills that they would need to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of an accident.
The DC Samba, in her address, highlighted the UT Government’s commitment towards road safety and said that there was a dire need to save lives and have zero road fatalities in Samba district.
She informed that the administration has launched a campaign of Rakha Mitra to provide first responder training to the community including youths. “This year road safety week saw a series of activities in Samba including sensitization of commercial vehicle drivers, rectification of black spots, awareness and cancellation of licenses under MVD rules, pledge ceremony, Signature Campaigns, etc were also organized, added the DC Samba.
During the programme, a team of doctors from AIIMS Jammu gave a detailed demonstration on how to save life during the accidents- critical or Golden time period.
The demonstration was hailed by the youth, driver community, locals and they undertook a pledge to become Good Samaritans. The valedictory function also saw presentation of skits, poetry and awards distribution ceremony among the participants and members of road safety committee.
The function was conducted in association with National Highway authority of India, VSEPL and others.
