‘My Town My Pride’ culminates with enthusiasm amid slew of activities at Baramulla

Baramulla : Secretary, Planning Development and Monitoring Department, Dr Raghav Langer, today attended series of events at Baramulla held to mark culmination of government’s ambitious ‘My Town My Pride programme.
At Baramulla, Dr Langer (Visiting Officer) attended day long function organized at Dak Bungalow which was attended by PRIs, civil society members and other stakeholders with great enthusiastic. Dr Raghav Langer inspected stalls installed by various departments including Health, Education, Social Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Youth Services and Sports.
These stalls were meant to provide every service to the people at their doorsteps besides disseminating necessary information regarding government achemea. Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, Director General, Sheep Husbandry Department Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Joint Director Planning, Mohammad Yousuf Rather, President, Municipal Council Baramulla, Touseef Raina, besides other functionaries of concerned departments were present on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner briefed about the initiatives being up taken by the departments in saturating the deliverables in the district. She also appraised the visiting officer that “My Town My Pride” has witnessed multifarious activities in the district amid overwhelming public participation.
Dr Raghav Langer, while addressing the gathering, said that ‘My Town My Pride’ is aimed at to improve service delivery and redress the public grievances within the shortest possible time and achieve cent percent saturation of beneficiary oriented schemes.
He added that the purpose behind this unique initiative is to strengthen the roots of good governance in J&K and empower the common people besides giving direction to new governance model in entire Jammu and Kashmir.
Secretary Planning said that My Town My Pride has 7 action plans for which the responsibility of every officer is to ensure integrated development concepts and its execution. On the occasion, PRIs and other prominent stakeholders also highlighted their grievances pertaining to the development of Baramulla town.
Dr Raghav Langer gave a patient hearing to all the grievances and demands that were put forth PRIs and concerned stakeholders. The Visiting Officer assured them that all their issues and demands shall be taken with the concerned authorities for timely redressal besides sensitising the participants about measures taken by the government to fulfil the development requirements of the town under different sectors.
Meanwhile, an array of cultural events and skits were presented by the students during the event which got a quite applause by the participants. Secretary also handed over certificates and letters and cheques among different beneficiaries.
Later, Secretary paid visit to Khawaja Bagh Baramulla where he carried out several developmental activities. He handed over a key to beneficiary for construction of a new house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and interacted with the family members.
He also visited Indoor Sports Stadium and took part in sports activities there. He later felicitated the winning team with appreciation awards. Dr Raghav Langer also visited Transit Accommodation Camp at Khawjabagh Baramulla where he took first hand appraisal of its construction work.
He said that several concrete measures have been taken in order to ensure rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants so that they live in their homeland with peace and harmony. Moreover, Secretary in presence of President Municipal Council Baramulla and other concerned inagurated Children’s Park at Sangri Colony Baramulla.
He held a brief interaction there and sought cooperation from the public in keeping the park neat and clean. Later, in a separate meeting, Secretary interacted with the PRIs who put forth their grievances and developmental aspirations.
While interacting with them, Dr Raghav Langer assured them that all of their genuine concerns will be resolved on priority. He asked them to play a proactive role in the implementation of various welfare schemes at the grass root level as PRIs constitute a vital component in the administrative setup.
