OFM, a way towards sustainable development and healthy lifestyle: DDC Pulwama

Flags-off Run for Health and Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

Pulwama : As a measure to replicate organic farming in district Pulwama, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer today inaugurated Organic Farming mela at Patalbagh, here.The DDC was accompanied by the Chief Agriculture Officer besides other district Officers.On the occasion, the DDC said that Organic Farming Model (OFM) will usher a movement towards sustainable development besides doubling the farmers income. He said that organic farming leads to a healthy lifestyle and better food habits amongst the people.He stressed upon the officers of Agriculture and Farmers welfare to implement the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojna and provide logistic and technical support to farmers. He stressed for widening the farming base as more crops should be brought into its ambit.The DDC directed the Chief Agriculture Officer to make an action plan for marketing of organic produce besides mobilising the forward and backward linkages.Earlier, DDC in October inaugurated a bore well at Patalbagh cluster under CAPEX as a measure to boost Organic Farming.He also visited different stalls showcasing different Organic vegetables like Broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, honey etc.It is important to mention that around 1300 kanals of land under Organic Farming cluster distributed at three different clusters in Patalbagh, Banagund and Qazigund Kakapora.The DCC also participated in a flagging off ceremony of Run for Health and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organised by the Youth services Department.
