Police commemoration day observed across J&K; Main function held at APC, Zewan

Srinagar : The National Police Commemoration Day was observed with full ceremonial tradition across Jammu and Kashmir. The main function was organized at the Armed Police Complex Zewan where Hon’ble Lt. Governor J&K Shri Manoj Sinha was the chief guest.The function was attended by Advisor to Hon’ble LG, Shri R.R Bhatnagar, Chief Secretary, J&K Shri A.K Mehta, Principal Secretary Home J&K Shri Shaleen Kabra, DGP Prison J&K, Dr. B. Srinivas, Spl DGs, Shri R. R Swain, Shri A.K Choudhary, ADGsP S. J. M. Gillani, Dr. S. D. Singh Jamwal, Shri T. Namgyal, Shri M. K. Sinha, Shri Sunil Kumar, Shri Danesh Rana, Div Com Kashmir, Shri P. K Pole, IGsP Shri Garib Dass, Shri Vijay Kumar, Shri Alok Kumar and a galaxy of other senior police, CAPFs and Civil officers.Meanwhile, the Day was observed at all Zonal, Range, units and wing headquarters where senior police officers led their personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.At Pulwama Police Commemoration Day parade was held at District Police Lines Pulwama, to pay homage to those policemen who lost their lives for the peace and integrity of the nation. SSP Pulwama Shri Gh. Jeelani Wani paid a floral tribute to all martyrs of the police and two minutes of silence was observed. SSP Pulwama took salute of the Police Commemoration Day Parade. DC Pulwama Shri Baseer-ul-Haq Khan Choudary, ASP Pulwama Shri Tanveer Ahmad, CAPF and other police officers attended the function.Similarly, Sopore Police observed commemoration day at DPL Sopore. Contingents of police and paramilitary forces participated in the Commemoration Day parade. SP Sopore Shri Sudhanshu Verma, Dysp DAR Aabid Rashid Mir-JKPS-JKPS and other senior officers paid rich tributes to the martyrs. A blood donation camp in collaboration with Sub District Hospital Sopore was also organised honouring the sacrifice of martyrs of the nation in which officers and officials from Police donated their blood.At District Ganderbal, Police Commemoration Day Parade was held at District Police Lines Ganderbal. SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar paid a floral tribute to all martyrs of the Police of the Country and two minutes of silence was observed. The contingents of District Police and Home Guard especially Raksha toli performed a silent parade on the beats of Pipe Band. SSP Ganderbal read out the list of Brave Martyrs of the country and paid rich tributes to them.

The function was followed by laying of wreaths and showering of flowers by DC Ganderbal Smt. Kritika Jyotsna, DDC members, Civil & Police gazetted officers, jawans, guests and the members of Martyr’s families.Similarly, Police Commemoration Day-2021 was observed by Bandipora police at DPL Bandipora to pay rich tributes to martyrs, Dy. Commissioner Bandipora Shri Owais Ahmad and SSP Bandipora Shri Mohmmad Zahid presided over the function. CO-14 RR Sh Pranav Joshi, 26 AR COl Vidhya Dharan, CO 3rd BN CRPF Shri Rakesh Kumar, CO CISF Vikas Kumar, Dysp HQRS Bandipora, DYSP DAR DPL Bandipora and other senior officers of police, Army and CRPF attended the function, besides families of police martyrs of district Bandipora, retired police personnel, prominent citizens & distinguished guests were also present. On the occasion a blood donation camp was organised at DPL Bandipora & Martyr Raja Memorial Cricket tournament was inaugurated at SK Stadium Bandipora.At Awantipora SSP Awantipora Shri Mohd Yousif paid a floral tribute at District Police Lines Awantipora to all martyrs of the police of the Country and two minutes of silence was observed. The function was followed by laying of wreaths and showering of flowers by the officers, jawans, guests and the members of Martyr’s families.At Handwara Police Commemoration Day was observed at District Police Lines. SSP Handwara Shri Sundeep Gupta, ASP Handwara Shri Mashkoor Ahmad, SDPO Handwara, DYSP DAR Handwara, other senior officers of Police District Handwara, Para military and NOK’s of Martyred police personnel participated in the occasion for paying tributes to martyred police personnel. Rich tributes were paid to police Personnel who sacrificed their precious lives in the line of duty across the country. At Kulgam Police Commemoration Parade was held to remember the brave Policemen who sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties in the service of community and for safeguarding integrity and sovereignty of the nation. SSP Kulgam Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarty along with other officers of Kulgam Police, RR and CAPFs paid their homage by placing floral wreaths at the Martyrs Monument in DPL Kulgam. SSP Kulgam interacted with next of kin of Martyrs. He heard their grievances and assured them that the District Administration and JK Police stands by the family and will extend all possible help and support to the families as and when required.

Similarly Police Commemoration Day was held at DPL Anantnag wherein the martyrs were remembered for their sacrifice for the nation. Contingents of police and paramilitary forces participated in the main function of the Commemoration Day parade. DIG South Kashmir Range Shri Abdul Jabbar, SSP Anantnag Shri Ashish Mishra, Commandants of different CRPF/IRP/Army Battalions and other senior officers of civil and police administration paid rich tributes to the martyrs. After the Commemoration Day Parade, an interaction session was held with the family members of martyrs in order to make them familiar with the schemes, which have been launched by the Government for the welfare of NoKs of martyrs. The gifts were distributed among the NoKs of martyrs as a token of respect to them. Later, DIG SKR inaugurated a blood donation camp where many police personnel participated in blood donation camp.Police Commemoration Day was observed at District Police Lines Kupwara with all respect and reverence for those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. A grand function by all ranks and files of District Police Kupwara besides public representatives and families of martyrs participated in paying tributes to the martyrs. All the participants paid rich tributes to martyrs and lauded their supreme sacrifice while discharging their duties and upholding the democratic credentials of our country. On this occasion a commemoration parade was held followed by laying of wreaths and floral tributes to martyrs. SSP Kupwara Yougal Manhas read over the names of all Police/Security personnel who laid down their lives during the year 2020-2021 while performing their duties. The Police Commemoration Day was observed at District Police Lines of Budgam district. An elaborate function was organized to honour the martyrdom of police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation. The Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam Shri Tahir Saleem Khan took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade and readout the name of the martyrs and paid rich tribute to them. Later SSP Budgam interacted with the NoKs of the martyrs and listened to their grievances and issued on the spot instructions for their redressal.

The Police Commemoration Day was observed in Baramulla where DIG NKR Baramulla, Shri Uday Basker Billa alongwith SSP Baramulla, Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat, CO 53 Bn CRPF Shri Meghraj among others showered floral tributes to all martyrs of the police forces of the country. The function was held at District Police Lines Baramulla where contingents of District Police, 53 Bn CRPF, 2nd Bn SSB and IRP 13th Bn participated. The function was followed by laying of wreaths and showering of flowers by senior officers of Police, CAPF, Army, Civil Administration, members of Martyr families and jawans of District Police Baramulla. On the occasion DIG NKR Baramulla with SSP Baramulla distributed tokens of gratitude among NOKs of Police Martyrs and listened patiently to the grievances of Police Martyrs’ families in the *Shaheedi Mulaqat* programme and assured the issues will be taken up for proper redressal.In Jammu Zone impressive functions were organized in all 10 Districts of Jammu Province where a large number of senior Police Officers, retired police personnel, members of the martyr’s families and members of civil society participated. In the winter capital Jammu, the main function was conducted at Gulshan Ground Jammu where Shri Mukesh Singh Addl. Director of Police Jammu Zone, Jammu took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade. GOs of all Jammu based Units, apart from a large number of senior / retired Police Officers, prominent dignitaries/Citizens and media personnel of Jammu also participated in the function. ADGP Jammu Zone Shri Mukesh Singh read out the name of brave martyrs of the country which includes martyrs from Police Organizations and PMF like BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, NCB, NDRF and FS, CD & HG. He prayed for the heavenly peace of the departed souls and also for the prosperity and welfare of their families. Earlier all the Jammu based GOs assembled at Police Martyrs Memorial at Railway Station where rich tributes were paid to all the Martyrs. A blood donation camp was also organized by Police in collaboration with Team Jammu in which 65 senior Police officers /officials and 10 volunteers of the team Jammu donated blood. Moreover, another impressive function was organized again in the evening at Police Martyrs Memorial Railway Station, Jammu where a large number of Police/Civil families assembled to light candles and paid rich tributes to the Martyrs of the nation.
