Baisran Valley: The Mini Switzerland of India

Anantnag(Mudasir Maqbool) : Baisran Valley, located in Pahalgam of Anantnag district of Kashmir, is famous as a mini-Switzerland site due to its beauty. It is a green meadow on top of a hill surrounded by dense deodar forests and surrounded by snow-capped mountains.
It is situated at an altitude of 2438 m above sea level, at a distance of a mere 5 km from Pahalgam. Magnificent snow covered mountains, dense pine forests and sprawling meadows attract tourists to Baisaran from far-flung places.
The top of the hill allows for a mesmerizing view of the Lidder River Valley and Pahalgam Valley. The place is considered similar to European resorts and serves as a picnic and camp site for tourists.It’s ideal for picnicking and a must-visit attraction in Pahalgam.

Route To Reach Baisaran
Amazing, breathtakingly beautiful, calm, serene, lush green, surrounded by tall pines. Not overcrowded unlike Betaab valley or Aru. Only ruote available for access is a pony track, even big SUV’s have difficulty in reaching the top.
The 103 kms from Srinagar you can hire a cab here, and just a 5-kilometer walk from Pahalgam. You can also take a pony or horse ride to reach Baisaran from Pahalgam main market. If you love walking and can walk uphill, you can reach Baisaran in around 40-50 minutes.
Baisaran in Winters
The valley is said to look more beautiful in winter than in summer. The Alpine touch, the misty weather, and the continuously falling snow give it a look more beautiful than Gulmarg and Sonmarg as stated by tourists.
In winter, it will be dark soon. The best way would be to start early in the day. It becomes almost impossible to trek to the Baisaran Valley in winter on foot. A pony ride however will take you easily to mini Switzerland.
