Mega event held to celebrate 69th All India Cooperative Week at Budgam

Budgam : As part of weeklong celebrations under 69th All India Cooperative Week, a Mega event organized by the Department of Cooperatives Budgam in collaboration with the Cooperative Societies of District was today held at Sheikh-Ul–Alam Hall Budgam.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid was the chief guest at the event.The function among others was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Dr. Akhramullah Tak, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Budgam, Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam, DIO Budgam, Dy. Registrar cooperative societies Budgam, Departmental Officers/officials, Institutional employees, Co-operators , PRIs, school students and eminent citizens.
The main theme of the 69th All India Cooperative Week is “India @75 Growth of Cooperatives and future ahead”. In accordance with the thematic areas of Cooperative Week Celebrations, the theme of the day was “Cooperative Marketing, Consumers, Processing and Value Addition”.
The main objective of the celebrations was to highlight the achievement of the Cooperative Sector and to chalk out the future strategy for strengthening the Cooperative movement.The DC on the occasion unfurled the Cooperative Flag to mark the celebrations.
He also visited many stalls installed at the premises of the hall and took review of different items sold in cooperative markets.The Deputy Registrar highlighted the role of Cooperatives in the socio-economic upliftment and emphasized on the need for formation of new Cooperatives in different fields by involving more and more unemployed youth.
The Dy. Registrar highlighted the achievements of Cooperative Sector Budgam through PowerPoint Presentation and it was informed Apex Level Cooperative Society at Wanbal, Nowgam has transacted business turnover of Rs 16 crore 7 lacs during the financial year 2021-22, a women oriented cooperative society namely Primary Pashmeena Cooperative Society Ltd. Pymus has transacted business turnover of Rs 33.38 lacs during the year 2021-22.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said to make Cooperative movement strong, more innovative ideas need to be explored under its banner, be that in agriculture, horticulture, apiculture, floriculture etc. so that there is economic upliftment of society as well as employment generation.
He said Youth should come forward to start cooperative units as investments made in such societies have a higher success rate.He said there is huge potential in establishment of Food processing units and stressed departments of cooperative societies to organise such more awareness programmes at micro level and in local dialect so that maximum benefits are reared by the public.
He also stressed the Department for imparting training at block level especially to panchayat secretaries so that they can generate door to door awareness about the cooperative movement and its long term benefits.
Several cultural programmes were performed by the students of Gousia Cooperative Educational Institute Panzan Chadoora.Different speakers threw light on the theme.In addition to the above, the top three position holders of last year class 10th students of Gousia Cooperative Educational Institute Panzan Chadoora, one student who qualified NEET with rank 65 in J&K UT and several Managers of Cooperative Institutions were felicitated by the DC and Dy. Registrar Cooperatives Budgam.
The Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Budgam highlighted the need of the Cooperative Department during the current scenario and stressed the youth to form more and more cooperatives especially in the field of Diary, FPO’s, handicrafts etc.
