DLC on PMMSY approves 8 Trout Fish Units in Doda

Doda : District Development Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan today chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee on Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) here in the DC office.
Nine proposals for trout fish unit (7 cases from General Category and 2 from Women Category) were presented before the Committee under PMMSY plan for the year 2022-23. After detailed discussion, the Panel approved 8 feasible proposals (7 of General Category and 1 of women Category).
One additional case was also approved under Women Category in principle, subject to the availability of funds and necessary sanction from the competent authority. The department has been asked to seek applicants from ST and SC Category also to accommodate all the sections of the society for livelihood through fish culture under PMMSY scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) is a central scheme aimed at harnessing the fisheries sector potential in a sustainable manner to double the income of Fish Farmers and Fishers.
The DDC directed the concerned department to closely monitor the establishment and management of existing and newly approved Fish Farms by conducting regular inspections. He further asked the department to identify more potential areas with a good source of cold stream and spring water for establishment of more units.
The DDC urged the department to encourage Fish Farmers to create cooperatives and to explore the full potential of this lucrative sector. Among others, those present in the meeting were SE Hydraulics, CPO Doda, ACD Doda, CAO, Representative of KVK, AD Fisheries, District Manager Lead Bank, and other concerned.
