SVEEP activities continue at Ganderbal

Ganderbal : As part of an outreach programme for young population and educated youth about the upcoming Special Summary Revision, the District Election Office Ganderbal in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports and Govt. College of Physical Education (GCPE) Gadoora today organised a daylong sports activities within the campus of College of physical education.
The event was presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Ganderbal, Khurshid Ahmad Shah and was attended by Dy. DEO Ganderbal, District YS&S Officer, Principal GCPE, staff and students of various educational institutions of the district.
The participants were briefed about the upcoming Special Summary Revision and the procedure to enroll themselves in the electoral roll through online and offline modes.
It was emphasised that youth disconnect and apathy towards electoral process needs to be checked by active participation of youth in democratic processes both at registration stage and polling stage.
Various participants emphasised upon the need for an educated and informed electorate in a democratic setup in which youth can play a big part.Various forms like Form 6, 6B, 7 and 8 prescribed by ECI for registration of names in e-roll were also distributed among the participants.
Sports activities like Volleyball, Tug of War, Kho-Kho etc were also conducted in which students of physical college and other educational institutions took part.
It is worth mentioning here that the District Election Office Ganderbal is conducting comprehensive SVEEP activities in the district to educate populations about Special Summary Revision and the need for people to enroll as electors.
Special educational interventions are being made targeting youth, women, persons with disabilities and weaker sections of society like SCs and STs. Various Government departments, NGOs and civil society organisations are also being roped in to conduct SVEEP activities in the district.
