33rd Road Safety Week commences at Kulgam

Kulgam : The 33rd Road Safety Week commenced today at Kulgam with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat flagging-off a car rally from the premises of mini-secretariat Kulgam.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Viqar Ahmed Giri; Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Abrar Ahmad and other officers and officials of ARTO office were present on the occasion.
The aim of the week is to inculcate traffic education and awareness among motorists, commuters, pedestrians including college and school going children and to make them aware about safety measures to be taken while on road.
Meanwhile ARTO Kulgam said that during this road safety week being observed under Swachhta Pakhwada from 11 to 17 January with a theme ‘Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha’ multifarious activities will be carried out across the district including rallies, awareness camps and campaigns regarding safety of passengers and pedestrians, awareness regarding NDPS ACT 1985, Enforcement drives and other related programs.
These activities will be held to spread awareness about traffic rules and to promote safe driving to minimize road accidents.
