Chairperson DDC Reasi receives Nasha Mukt Bharat Yatra at Katra

Reasi : Chairperson District Development Council Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag today received the Nasha Mukt Yatra Spearheaded by Kashiyana Foundation Chairman, Sunnet Ankur Singh here in Degree College Katra.

The yatra was being conducted under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan launched by the Ministry Of Social Justice and Empowerment Govt Of India. The foundation has pledged to travel 15000 km to cover 22 states and UTs of India in 40 days.

BDC Chairman, Panthal Chander Mohan Singh Sumbria; DDC Panthal Rajinder Mengi; Principal GDC Katra, C.K Khajuria; Sarpanch, Rajinder Thapa; Sarpanch, Ashok Kumar Sharma also shared their views along with college faculty and students.

Elaborating on the subject, Sumeet Singh said that drug addiction has been taking alarming dimensions in our society and it was high time to share the responsibility to curb this menace. Kashiyana foundation has pledged to reach up to 5 crore country population in this campaign to spread awareness regarding this social evil.

While speaking on the occasion, Chairperson DDC said that in J&K, UT administration has announced opening of 11 drug de-addiction centres of which 6 are for Kishtwar, Doda , Ramban, Udhampur, Reasi and Kathua districts which means that this evil has spread its tentacles across the length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir firmly and ‘we need to counteract swiftly’.

He added that the centre government has identified 272 districts in the country to spread mass awareness through concerned agencies to eradicate the menace. Around 500 NGOS are working in the country, which are being financially supported by the central government.
