DC Samba reviews progress of Nokia Smartpur Digital Project at Panchayat Palli

Samba : To assess the overall progress of novel initiative- Nokia Smartpur in Panchayat Palli, block Bari Brahmana, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta held a detailed meeting with officials of Nokia and Save the Children along with all the line departments.
The project holds importance as it was on the personal initiative of Lieutenant Governor, J&K, Shri Manoj Sinha that Nokia Smartpur was launched on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day on 24th April 2022, the day on which PM Narendra Modi visited the Panchayat.
The project intends to put in place a strong ecosystem of rural entrepreneurship designed to create ideal smart villages in J&K.The meeting included a presentation by Nokia-Save the Children team about the progress made by them in achieving the objectives defined in the program on 5 pillars of education, livelihood, governance, healthcare and financial inclusion.
The DC reviewed the progress made by all the line departments on the calendar of activities issued by her office in September, 2022.While appreciating the effort made in this regard, she exhorted the departments to work in close coordination with Nokia-Smartpur team so that the real purpose of the project is achieved and the objective of creating a smart rural ecosystem could be actuated on ground.
It was also emphasized that the project should become a model for all Panchayats in J&K.It was decided that Nokia smartpur will further consolidate its efforts by including more SHG members and local artisans in their training programmes so that they are equipped with digital marketing skills.
Telemedicine facility shall also be extended with the help of District health department. It was also decided at the meeting that the Har Ghar Mein Champion initiative of district administration will be dovetailed with the modules of Nokia smartpur to develop Palli as a model Swachh Gram.
The DC appreciated the identification of 17 more Panchayats in Samba district by the team of Nokia-Save the Children to explore the possibilities of establishing the Nokia Smartpur project there. The DC Samba assured that all possible assistance in this regard shall be provided if the project is approved.
Besides the Nokia-Smartpur officials, the meeting was attended by ACD, SDM VIJAYPUR, CMO, CEO, DSWO, officers from NRLM, Handicrafts and handloom departments.
