GDC Ramgarh conducts sanitation drive under Clean India 2.0 Campaign

Samba : Government Degree College Ramgarh has been organising a series of cleanliness activities under ‘Clean India 2.0 Campaign.’As part of the series, the National Service Scheme Unit ‘Prabha’ of the College carried out a ‘Mega Swachhata Drive’ today in the College premises as well as in College’s adopted village ‘Kalah’.
The drive was carried out to collect plastic waste. The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Satinder Kaur, the College Principal.Dr. Shamsher Lal, NSS Programme Officer, along with NSS Committee members, other staff members and NSS volunteers participated in the drive.
At the outset, the NSS Programme Officer briefed the volunteers about the importance of cleanliness and the adverse effects of plastic waste and the pollution it causes, particularly land pollution and on the environment as a whole.
He also laid emphasis on the diseases and health issues caused by unclean and polluted surroundings and how to prevent the same. He explained that these days, the Dengue is on the rise and in order to tackle this health epidemic, clean surroundings prove to be of great help.
A large number of volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive and cleaned the College premises and the streets of the adopted village. The collected plastic waste was disposed of on a designated site and the Municipality Department of the area will collect this plastic waste to dispose of it completely .
