Agriculture Department celebrates ‘National Farmers Day’

Srinagar : The Department of Agriculture today organised various events across Kashmir valley to celebrate National Farmers Day On the occasion, Director Agriculture Kashmir, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri extended heartiest greetings to the farmers. He in his message to the farming community said that this day is being celebrated to honour farmers for their contribution towards making a self reliant nation in terms of food security.He said that the farmers are our real heroes who produce food, and life is sustained due to their efforts.Meanwhile to commemorate the farmers, the main function was inaugurated by Joint Director (JD), Farooq Ahmad Shah in presence of progressive farmers and growers at Chief Agriculture Office Srinagar.While interacting with the farmers the JD appreciated the role of farmers in adopting modern techniques for increasing production and productivity. He said the prosperity of a nation depends upon the well being of the farming community.Shah stressed upon the officers to reach the farmers collectively and provide every kind of advice on real time basis as per area specialty and market availability.The Joint Director Agriculture Inputs, Amir ud din Andrabi highlighted the importance of the day and said that this day is being celebrated in honour of late Choudhary Charan Singh’s birthday who was a great farmer leader and 5th prime minister of the country.Among others, District Agriculture Officers, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officers of the district and other senior officers of the department and more than 40 farmers were present on the occasion.
