International Day of Disabled Persons observed at Udhampur

Udhampur : Like other parts of the country, International Day of Disabled Persons was also observed at District Head Quarter Udhampur.An awareness Shanti March was taken out by Diyang Seva Ashram which was flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan in presence of District Social Welfare Officer, Kanika Gupta.
The rally commenced from Diyang Seva Ashram Devika and after passing through MH Chowk, Matador Stand, Town hall, Gole market, Ramnagar Chowk, Court road, DC Office and finally culminated back at Diyang Ashram.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that it was the duty of each and every person living in the society to put in efforts to bring the differently abled persons to the mainstream society and encourage them to lead a life with dignity.
The ADC also highlighted the right of persons with disabilities in the development of the society and enjoying living conditions equal to those of other citizens and share in the improved conditions resulting from socio-economic development.
On the occasion, President Diyang Seva Ashram, Parshotam Sharma, submitted a memorandum of demands to the Additional Deputy Commissioner.Later, an awareness programme was organized by the social welfare department Udhampur in collaboration with Divyang Sewa Ashram in the Ashram Premises wherein Officials of the Social Welfare department sensitized the Diyang about various social security schemes. Members of the senior citizen club were also present.
