Secretary PDMD Dr. Raghav Langer reviews preparedness of JKERA on projects proposed under ADB, JICA funding

Jammu : Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department (PDMD), Dr. Raghav Langer today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness of J&K ERA on the projects proposed to be funded with the financial assistance of ADB (Asian Development Bank) and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) at Civil Secretariat here.
The meeting was attended by Director Planning and Coordination, JTFRP, Iftikhar Hakim; Director Technical, JTFRP, Iftikhar Wani; Director Kashmir, JKERA, Javaid Bukhari; Director Jammu JKERA, Ajay Kumar Raju; Director Finance JKERA, Tasawuf Amin; Project Manager, JKERA, Ishtiyaq Malik; Project Manager Transport JKERA, Jammu Ashok Khokar; Project Manager Urban, Jammu, Nand Kishore and other concerned officials of the allied departments.
Speaking during the meeting, Secretary, PDMD directed the officers of JKERA to be ready with the lists and Preliminary Projects Reports of tentative projects to be taken up under the proposed ADB Loan-III and JICA after due consultations with the line departments especially PW(R&B), Jal Shakti and Housing and Urban Development Department.
He highlighted that the proper consultations with all the line departments associated with these projects will pave way for successful execution of these prestigious projects.Director Planning &Coordination, JTFRP informed the meeting that under these mega infrastructure projects proposed to be financed by ADB and JICA, JTFRP intends to undertake the projects for the Construction of integrated sewerage, water supply & storm water drainage schemes for the Greater Srinagar and Greater Jammu cities to provide the people living in these rapidly expanding cities with basic urban facilities; besides Urban Transport, Solid Waste Management as well as Capacity Building.
The Secretary was also informed that projects worth Rs 1100 Crore and Rs 4600 Crore were originally proposed to be taken up under these expected MFF through ADB-III & JICA; which would pave way for further strengthening and expansion of urban infrastructure in the UT.Pertinently, the ADB mission had previously apprised the JKERA to propose sub-projects that are outcome oriented, provide comprehensive end-to-end solutions to the entire city/town, like 24*7 water supply with at least 5 years O&M, sewerage interventions from house connections-network-sewage treatment plant-reuse of treated waste water; integrated municipal solid waste management from source segregation-collection-transportation-reuse/recycling and disposal; urban road improvement works with O&M component and Part of the integrated plan of the subsector. The major project conceived earlier under JICA funding, was 3-stage lift bulk water supply scheme for Jammu City from river Chenab.
