SSP Dr Vinod Kumar reviews drug control measures at Udhampur

Udhampur : To discuss and review the issues regarding restructuring the of Narco Coordination centre (NCORD) mechanism in the district, Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Dr Vinod Kumar, today convened a meeting of officers of different departments, here in the Mini Conference Hall DC Office Complex.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held upon the action taken on directions passed in previous meeting related to incidence of drug addiction, rehabilitation, de-addiction and mental health counseling beside other areas of concern, hot spots of drug abuse and cultivation of illicit poppy, cannabis in the district was also discussed.
At the onset, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan briefed the participants about the latest developments and activities taken up in the district by the intending departments.SSP Udhampur asked for keeping a close vigil on illicit cultivation of poppy or cannabis.
Tehsildar Udhampur was directed to identify land for the construct of Rehabilitation Centre in the district, while the CMO was directed to make the rehabilitation center operational at District Head quarter.In order to educate the general public about the ill effects of drug addiction, SSP directed the concerned departments to organize camps in schools, colleges and other public places by involving PRIs, students ,locals and other stakeholders.
The education department was asked to promote anti-drug awareness in educational institutions and its ill effects on the health of society. SSP directed the concerned to keep strict vigil against drug proliferation, consumption and intensifying awareness against such addictive substances involving concerned stakeholders.
Among others, Divisional Forest Officer, Rushal Garg, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ramnagar, Shishir Gupta, Chief Education Officer, Arvin Koul, Chief Medical Officer, Vijay Basnotra, District Social Welfare Officer, Kanika Gupta, Tehsildar Udhampur, Amit Verma attended the meeting.
