World Disability Day: Bandipora Admin organises Sensitization programme

Bandipora: The District Administration Bandipora on Friday organised a day-long sensitization cum awareness programme to celebrate World Disability Day.Additional Deputy Commissioner, Zahoor Ahmad Mir was the chief guest on the occasion while district officers of various departments and especially abled persons from across the district participated in the programme.Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that the aim of organizing the programme was to bring people with special needs and the government officers together so that they interact with each other and understand the issues being faced by the persons with special needs.He said the district administration is akin to the problems faced by the people with special needs and assured them every possible support that will ease the problems of such people.

Mir stressed on providing better facilities to the children with special abilities so that they can get a better education. He said providing better education and healthcare facilities to such individuals should be the priority for all and assured that all required measures shall be taken to ensure a better education for these individuals.He said the Government has taken several measures for the welfare of the disabled persons from time to time, including financial assistance in the shape of pension, free education, free medical treatment, free travel, vocational programmes etc and a large number of people are availing these benefits.Earlier, during the programme the persons with special abilities apprised the Additional Deputy Commissioner about the problems being faced by them and sought early redressal of their grievances.Speakers on the occasion threw light on the importance and significance of celebrating international day of persons with disabilities while several shared their experience of fighting with disability.
