5-day workshop for creating glossary for Technical Terminology concluded at GNDU

Amritsar : Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Dy. Coordinator of 5-day workshop for creating glossary for Technical Terminology said that in this workshop more than 10 thousand technical words of engineering terminology have been evolved in Punjabi language.
With conclusion of this workshop, the target to create total 55000 technical words of engineering terminology in Punjabi has been achieved successfully, till date.
This 5-day third workshop for creating glossary for Technical Terminology was organized in School of Punjabi Studies of the Guru Nanak Dev University under the able guidance of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, in collaboration with Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT), Education Ministry , Govt. of India.
Today in the valedictory session, Prof. (Dr.) Anish Dua, Dean Student Welfare was the chief guest. Prof. Dua in his talk, created insights on emergence of India in the world as a leading nation in the field of Science & Technology. Besides he created a picture of India as future hub of technology for the world to follow by the end of this decade.
In the context of NEP-2020, the role of regional languages in the proliferation of Science & Technology was highlighted with references.The coordinator for the workshop and Head of Punjabi Department Dr. Manjinder Singh welcomed the chief guest, Dr. Ashok Selwatkar and Dr. Shalindra Singh from CSTT, New Delhi. Dr. Manjinder Singh highlighted the achievements of this workshop.
The subject experts and linguists from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Central University Bathinda, Punjabi University Patiala and NIT Jalandhar participated in this workshop to fulfill the objectives of creating meanful glossary.Dr. Ashok Selwatkar briefed the commission’s achievements. He thanked Vice Chancellor, GNDU for allowing the CSTT to conduct this workshop.
Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Dy. Coordinator said that the next phase of this project will include the critical review and launching of this glossary for technical courses.
He presented vote of thanks to the guests and participants for their honest and fully committed nation-building exercise of accomplishing this mammoth task of creating a diversified glossary in Punjabi language.
