AAP stages cycle rally in protest against Captain Amarinder’s false promises

AAP MLAs say, Punjab and its people have suffered for 4 years as Captain failed in fulfilling his promises

Chandigarh : Protesting against Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s false promises made to the people of the state, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a cycle rally, convened from MLA Hostel on the first day of the budget session on Monday. The rally which was led by senior leader of the party and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema, was concluded at the Punjab Legislative Assembly. On the occasion, the AAP MLAs said that the people of Punjab had suffered for the last 4 years. They said that the people had voted for Captain Amarinder with the hope that he would fulfil the promises that he had made. “It has been 4 years since then and we have reached the final budget session of Captain’s term and the promises made by him still remain unfulfilled,” they added.Harpal Singh Cheema said that from drugs to farm loan-waiver and from post-matric scholarship to the Shagun scheme, Captain Amarinder had failed in fulfilling any of his promises. “As today is the start of the budget session, we have started our protest against Captain Amarinder Singh and his government through this cycle rally and will not stop our protests till people’s aspirations and hopes are fulfilled,” he added.

Cheema said that Captain Amarinder had promised the people of Punjab before the assembly elections in 2017 to end the mafia rule, waive all debts of the farmers, eradicate drugs from Punjab in four weeks, give jobs to the unemployed and other big promises were made, but as soon as Captain came to power, he forgot everything, neglected the people and betrayed them. The AAP leaders said that under the Congress rule in the state, farmer suicides had increased with unemployment, rates of petrol, diesel and electricity also increasing manifold. They said that the study rate of the Dalit students in the universities had decreased, poverty had increased, the coffers of the state treasury were empty and there was still no stop to the drug menace. “When Punjab is on the verge of collapse, and people are suffering, all Congress party is busy doing is fighting among themselves for the CM seat. This is absolutely shameful,” said the leaders. They said that the people who had so much hope on Captain Amarinder were now looking at how the party was busy in their internal politics. The AAP MLAs said that the Congress party was fighting only for the sake of power and they do not care about the people. They said that the Congress was a party of lies, which was incapable of working and living up to the expectations of the people. “Captain Amarinder and his cronies have no consideration for the people, they have no consideration for the pain they are going through. In fact, they do not even consider their own promises valuable,” the leaders said. They said that in the coming assembly elections, the people of Punjab will throw out this arrogant Congress party and bring AAP to power that will bring about real change.
