Decisive War Against Gangsters & Drugs: DGP Orders CP’s/SSP’s To Deploy 50% Of Total Police Force At Police Stations

Rupnagar : In order to make Punjab a crime-free and drugs-free state as directed by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav has ordered all the CPs/SSPs to increase the manpower in all the Police Stations in their jurisdiction by withdrawing police personnel from non-core duties.
“At least 50% of total police personnel posted in the districts should be posted in Police Stations,” he ordered, while holding range-level meetings across the state on Wednesday.The DGP has covered four Police ranges including Rupnagar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar during his field visit and held crime review meetings with CPs, IGsP/DIGsP of ranges, SSPs, Gazetted Officers and SHOs of concerned Police Ranges.
He also proposed to deploy at least one Quick Reaction Team (QRT) and 2 Armed Reserves per district having highly trained and well equipped Police Personnel trained on the lines of Special Operations Group (SOG) to deal with emergent situations.
He also directed CPs/SSPs to divide Police Station areas in beats and one beat officer should be dedicated in each beat area so that Accountability of the police officer for specific areas should be fixed.He also asked them to direct SHOs to open history sheets of bad characters and list them out to keep vigil on their activities. He asked SHOs to personally investigate the cases of major heinous crimes.
With Independence Day around the corner, DGP Gaurav Yadav also asked the CPs/SSPs to be alert and prepared to tackle any challenge besides ordering them to keep vigil at all the sensitive places.He also directed District Police Chiefs to hold monthly crime review meetings at district level and revive the Monday Parade.
He asked them to ensure citizen-friendly policing while keeping the channels of communication open with the civic society, at the same time maintaining that any anti-social element should not be spared at any cost. He also asked them to motivate people to install CCTV cameras outside their properties.
Reiterating the firm commitment of CM Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government to make Punjab a corruption-free state, DGP Gaurav Yadav also warned all the Police Officers and Officials that black sheeps in the uniform will not be tolerated and if anyone found indulged in any kind of malpractices will be dealt with heavy hand.
Meanwhile, the DGP also stressed on the need to revive the basic policing by keeping records at Police Stations updated, taking preventive actions under sections 107, 109 and 110 of the CrPC where it is warranted.
