Deputy Commissioner launches Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2021 in District Ludhiana

Ludhiana : With the objective to achieve National ranking on basis of quantitative and qualitative sanitation (Swachhata) parameters, District Administration Ludhiana today launched the Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2021.District Level launch was conducted under the Chairpersonship of Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana at District Administration Complex Ludhiana in the presence of Amit Kumar Panchal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Ludhiana, District Programme Officer Ludhiana, Civil Surgeon Ludhiana, DDPO Ludhiana, DPRO Ludhiana, District Education Officer Ludhiana (Secondary), District Education Officer Ludhiana (Primary), District Water Officer and District Sanitation Officer Ludhiana.Raivarinder Singh, District Sanitation Officer, SBM(G) Ludhiana welcomed all the participants and gave an overall view of Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2021.Speaking on the occasion, Amit Kumar Panchal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) outlined the objectives of SSG 2021. He explained areas of marking under SSG 2021 like Self Reporting, Direct Observation and Citizen Feedback and also shared his experiences and best practices from SSG 2019.He informed that the survey will be conducted from 25th Oct to 23rd Dec 2021. Further, heemphasized on Citizen Feed Back; one of the key components of SSG 2021. The district officers were advised to prepare a meticulous media plan for the success of SSG 2021.The SSG 2021 was launched by Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana.

During his key note address he mentioned that in Ludhiana, the survey will be carried out by an Independent Survey Agency; M/s Ipsos Research Pvt. Ltd. and 29 villages will be randomly selected for the survey. 10 households and 5 public places from each selected village will be evaluated on various Swachhta parameters. The main objective of SSG 2021 is to encourage large scale citizen participation performance comparison of districts & states, ascertain progress of Swachhata on ground, solicit feedback from citizens and evaluate implementation of Solid & Liquid WasteManagement in the districts. He emphasized that collective efforts of District Administration, Department of Rural Development of Panchayats, and other stake holder departments, Gram Panchayats need to put in their best efforts for conducting SSG 2021 on ground. He also reiterated that citizen feedback is most important component of this survey and district administration needs to organize extensive awareness campaigns making it a people’s movement. SSG 2021 will foster a spirit of healthy competition amongst the district to top in national raking which will be a matter of pride for the entire State.A detailed presentation was given by Sarabjeet Kaur, CDS, DWSS Ludhiana on SSG2021 Framework & Ranking Protocol. The live demonstration for reporting on IMIS was also given to the participants. All the queries raised by the participants were also addressed one by one.At the end, vote of thanks was given by Raivarinder Singh, District Sanitation Officer, SBM(G) Ludhiana to all the participants with a request to organize awareness activities regarding SSG2021 in the district.
