Glada To Build Bridge With Cost Of Rs 7 Crore Within Two Months

Ludhiana : In another major project to improve the infrastructure and facilitate the areas’ residents, a new bridge would be built at the cost of Rs 7 crore near Jhammat village besides carpeting of approach roads leading to Jalandhar via Ladowal National Highway bypass and from the bridge to the underpass.Inspecting the proposed bridge site near Jhammat village on Wednesday along with Pardeep Dhall, Rahul Verma and a battery of the officials, Municipal Councillor Mamta Ashu on the behalf of Food, Civil, and Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, said that the width of the existing bridge is just 3.7 meters which is too much narrow to deal present traffic volume and the commuters are harried a lot.
She told that the areas surrounding Jhammat village, have witnessed development of large number of residential colonies besides some educational institutions have come up.  She said that the commuters have been using the existing bridge and facing traffic jams frequently due to its narrow width.
She said that matter was taken up with the state government by Food, Civil, and Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu following which officials of GLADA, Irrigation, and others surveyed to solve the traffic woes and prepared a detailed project report regarding construction of new bridge and improving road infrastructure.She said that the project has been divided into three parts consisting of constructing new bridge having the width of 12-meters, laying concrete on the approach roads connecting Jalandhar via Ladowal National Highway bypass, and from the bridge to the underpass.Ashu told that GLADA would be the executive agency of the project and the construction would be over within two months once work starts. She said that it is a long-pending demand of the area residents who have been raising the issue of traffic jams.She said that the project is in the tender stage now and its work order would be issued by the agency. She said that the frequent traffic congestion and jams would be the talk of the past soon as clear directions have been issued to the officials to stick to the timelines of the project.Ashu said that she has been personally overseeing the project and people can contact her anytime for any kind of issue.
