Separate Labour Room established for Corona Patients in DHs: Balbir Singh Sidhu

12479 pregnant women tested for COVID,118 found positive

Chandigarh : To ensure against spread of COVID-19 in pregnant women, the Health & Family Welfare Department has set up separate Labour rooms in all district hospitals for the deliveries of pregnant women reported positive.Giving details in press communiqué, the Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that to ensure the safety of pregnant women, COVID test is made mandatory during the third trimester of pregnancy under which total number of pregnant women 12479 tested for COVID since April, out of which 118 were found positive. 56 deliveries were conducted successfully in government facilities as 20 normal and 36 LSCS in last three months.District Patiala performed best by conducting 1715 tests of pregnant women, out of which 61 tested positive adding that he said 16 deliveries are made safely in Patiala so far.Besides setting up the separate Labour Rooms, the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab government has also instructed Civil Surgeons to establish one dedicated Operation Theater for affected patients at DHs as per SOPs issued in this regard, he said.
The Minister said that the entire teams of Health & Family Welfare department have been working day and night to ensure the adequate arrangements such as Clinical Management, screening, tracing & testing etc.The State Government has fixed the rates of private hospitals those providing the treatment facilities to the corona patients. He said that no stone would be left unturned to save the lives of COVID-19 patients during this tough time corona pandemic. He said that as several strict preventive measures have been taken by the government, Punjab is able to curtail the number of corona virus cases comparatively our neighboring states.Mr. Sidhu said that if everyone wears a mask at public places then it is easily possible to control the community spread. He said that apart from lockdown, Punjab is the first state where wearing mask was made mandatory so as to control the community spread among the high density populations. He said that now, India has reached at third place and many states of country are badly affected by the community spread. He said that to ensure the safety of people, it’s time to ensure strict compliance of the guidelines concerning the COVID-19 across the State.He said that it is matter of satisfaction that when most of private hospitals were denied to entertain the patients, our government hospitals provided the quality healthcare facilities.
