Increase vigilance, District can’t afford another disease outbreak: ADC Aashika Jain

Orders fogging twice a day in vulnerable areas

S.A.S. Nagar : With the onset of rains, the probability of the outbreak of tropical feverssuch as dengue, malaria has increased. Keeping this in mind and to review the status of the precautions being undertaken, a meeting washeld by the ADC Aashika Jain here today.During the course of the meeting attended by the Municipal Commissioner, SDMs, District Epidemiologists, SMOs, representatives of the Municipal Councils, it was brought to the notice of the ADC that the health department teams are conducting door to door checks in the vulnerable areas and the mosquito larva has been found in about 150households in the district. The ADC was also apprised that in order to detect malaria, till date a total of 26197 blood slides have been screened.In the year 2020, a total of 11 cases pertaining to malaria and 6 related to dengue have been reported in the district. The ADC also took strong notice of the fact that despite the larva being found in so many households, only 8 challans have been issued. Shedirected the Health Department to adopt a very strict approach in this regard as the State is already battling corona virus pandemic and can ill afford to have another. She also emphasized closed coordination between all the departments in order to effectively keep the dengue/malaria under check.The ADC directed the spraying of the larvicide on stagnant water besides asking the Health department to make people aware during the house tohouse inspection. She instructed the EOs of all the Municipal Councils to conduct fogging twice a day in the vulnerable areas under their jurisdiction as per the health department guidelines and take strict action against the households where the mosquito larva is found. She also asked the District Development and Panchayat Officer to ensure use of black oil in village ponds or breed Gambusia fish in clean water sources to stop the breeding of mosquitoes.She also directed cleaning of coolers in all the government departments, making the children aware regarding the steps to be taken to stop dengue/malaria during the virtual classes, deploying the anganwadi workers to work at grassroots level to spread awareness and stopping the leakage of pipes supplying the drinking water and ensure draining of storm water so as to prevent the spread of dengue/malaria.
