Sunder Sham Arora Hoists National Flag, Announces Slew Of Projects For Hoshiarpur

Work Of Medical College To Be Allotted Soon

Hoshiarpur : Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora, after paying homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for unity and integrity of the country, hoisted tricolour and asserted that all of us are enjoying the warmth of freedom due to the supreme sacrifices made by our great martyrs and freedom fighters.At district level function organised here at local Police Lines ground to mark 75th Independence Day, the Minister also announced several significant development projects for Hoshiarpur, which would further strengthen the healthcare infrastructure, tourism, beautification of the city besides cycling and sports etc. Recalling the role of Punjabis in India’s national freedom struggle, Arora said that Punjabis had remained at forefront against the oppression and injustice unleashed by the British imperialism. “With cooperation and awareness, Punjab has successfully tackled the first and second wave of COVID-19 pandemic under Mission Fateh program and would also curb the anticipated third wave with the help of health experts and people” he added.Announcing development projects for Hoshiarpur, Arora said that a hostel equipping all requisite facilities is being constructed at the cost of Rs 4.19 crore of which 82 percent work has already been accomplished. He added that the construction work of Sardar Bahadur Amin Chand Soni Armed Forces Preparatory Institute is underway on war- footing to facilitate youngsters aspiring to join armed forces after getting training from this prestigious institute being developed at the cost of Rs 27 crore on 12.5 acres land.

Announcing another project, the Minister said that State Government is also incurring an expenditure of nearly Rs. one crore to develop a state-of-the-art food street, for which proposal are being finalised.The upcoming ‘lake & park’ project will provide a healthy environment having various facilities, said the Minister adding that the project would be completed at a cost of Rs. five crores. The project will have facilities like park, musical light fountain, water body, open air theatre etc on an area of 5 acres. Besides this, a sports park will also be developed on 3-acres land to provide sports facilities.Announcing the entry gates at the main entrances on all four sides of the city, he said that these gates would showcase the various cultural and heritage features of Hoshiarpur district such as wood timber trade, religious significance, dams and forests.Arora asserted that under leadership of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, the state witnessed record development in last four years and the pace of these works would be expedited in time to come. He said that the state government had taken historic decisions by increasing the social security pension from Rs. 750 to Rs. 1500 and the financial assistance under Ashirwad scheme from Rs. 21,000 to Rs. 51,000.Meanwhile, Chief Guest took a salute during an impressive march past after inspecting the parade. Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included IGP Jalandhar range Kaustubh Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait, SSP Navjot Singh Mahal, ADC (G) Vishesh Sarangal, ADC (Urban Development) Aashika Jain, ADC (D) Darbara Singh, CJM Aprajita Joshi, District Congress Chief Dr Kuldeep Nanda and others.

99 Personalities Honoured For Remarkable Services In Different Fields:
Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora also honoured 99 personalities from different fields for their immense contribution in social works and administrative duties especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Minister also gave memento and certificate of appreciation to the parade commander DSP Satvir Singh and other contingents besides the students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Railway Mandi road, who sung the National Anthem.
