Sunder Sham Arora Reiterates Adequate Power Supply Shortly

Directs Powercom Officials To Ensure Cut Free Supply To Domestic Consumers And Requisite Power To Farm Sector

Hoshiarpur : Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Friday said that the problems related to power supply in the state would be resolved shortly.Reiterating that every sector will get requisite supply of power, the Minister said that Punjab Government was making all out efforts and within days the situation would be normalised.Chairing a meeting with Powercom Officers to review the current situation of power supply, the Minister said that there was a gap between demand and supply, which was being sorted out as Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had sanctioned Rs 500 crore for purchase of additional power. He said that Powercom was meeting the demand of nearly 13000 MW in past years, which had reached to nearly 15,000 MW this season. The Minister also solicited fulsome support and cooperation from consumers especially current situation amid the increasing temperature.
Giving directions to Powercom officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply to domestic consumers and requisite supply to farm sector, the Minister that Punjab Government had already curtailed the time of offices and cutting down power supply to high energy consuming units, which would be helpful in tackling the situation. He asked them that there should be no power cuts on domestic supply. He also appealed the people for judicious use of power besides ensuring limited use of air conditioners in the houses. The Powercom officers were also told to make field visits after 2 pm to meet domestic consumers, representatives of industry and farmers to know their issues related to power sector so that these could be resolved without any delay. The Minister also instructed that the mobile phones of all Powercom officers/officials and staff deployed in complaint centres so that the people could be facilitated in case of any complaint.Prominent amongst others present in the meeting included Mayor Surinder Kumar, Superintending Engineer P S Khamba, Executive Engineers Kuldip Singh, Kuldip Singh Thakur, Sumit Dhawan, Jaswant Singh and Harsh Sharma.
