Three Projects To Ensure Facilities For Students, Sportspersons And Common People : Sunder Sham Arora

Got Three-Storey Library Dedicated By A Safai Sewak In Government College

Hoshiarpur : The Punjab Government on Saturday gave three major projects to Hoshiarpur namely three storey modern library in Government College, Multipurpose Indoor Sports Complex and Hoshiarpur City Centre, which would cater to the needs of students and sportsperson in particular and common masses in general. The Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora got these projects dedicated by a Safai Sewak in Government College, budding boxing players and Divyang women. The library was got dedicated by a sanitation worker Kamla Devi which has been built at the cost of Rs 2.41 crore after laying its foundation stone virtually on March 4, 2019 by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. Arora said that this library has been equipped with ultra-modern facilities and two-storey building has e-library and other required facilities in it. He also announced a grant of Rs. 7 lakh for furniture and other infrastructure in the library.MULTIPURPOSE INDOOR SPORTS STADIUM: Sunder Sham Arora got the opening of newly built multipurpose indoor sports stadium in Lajwanti Sports Stadium from three boxing players Sania, Priyanka and Muskan and said this newly indoor stadium built at a cost of Rs 6.99 crore would be named to legendary flying Sikh Milkha Singh.

He said that events of 20 games including Badminton, short tennis, Basketball, volleyball, Gym, Squash Court, Handball, Netball Court, Gymnastics and others would be organized in the complex of new stadium. He said that the sports department would impart training to the budding players through coaches to enable them to compete national and international events.HOSHIARPUR CITY CENTRE: Kick-starting another ambitious project for the people of Hoshiarpur, Industry and Commerce Minister Sundar Sham Arora got Hoshiarpur City Centre inaugurated from Divyang women pulling e-rickshaws in the city. The centre was constructed at the cost of Rs 6.11 crore. He said that this centre with modern facilities can be booked by any person at a very reasonable rate for various events with a capacity of gathering of about 1000 persons as well as parking for more than 50 cars and motorcycles-scooters. He said that this centre is fully air conditioned with 8 guest rooms. He said that this project has been designed keeping in view the future needs of people and having 20 feet wide road around it.On the occasion, Chairman Punjab Backward Classes Commission Sarwan Singh Ramgarhia, Mayor Surinder Kumar, Senior Deputy Mayor Parveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait, Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD) Aashika Jain, Chairman Improvement Trust Advocate Rakesh Marwaha, SDM Shivraj Singh, District Congress Chief Dr Kuldeep Nanda, Principal Sports College Dr. Jaswinder Singh, ex principals Paramjit Singh and Satnam Singh Jabbal, District Sports Officer Rupesh Kumar, Executive Engineer (PWD) Rajinder Singh Gotra and others were present.
