Vijay Inder Singla starts multi-crore projects at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital Sangrur

Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh sanctions Rs 15 crore for PET-CT Machine: School Education Minister Singla

Sangrur : Punjab School Education and Public Works Vijay Inder Singla today inaugurated multi crore projects at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital Sangrur and laid the foundation stone of various projects for the welfare of the people. Cabinet Minister Vijay Inder Singla today inaugurated radiology block with advanced technology constructed at a cost of Rs. 12 crore and a girls hostel constructed at a cost of Rs. 6 crore 55 lakh. Apart from these projects, the Cabinet Minister also laid the foundation stones of residence for doctors near Ranbir Club and upgradation of residential block in the Cancer Hospital. He added that both will be developed at a cost of Rs. 3.92 crore and Rs. 3.90 crore, respectively.Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that this hospital has been proving to be a boon for the treatment of cancer patients not only from Sangrur but also from Punjab and as well as from other states. He said that according to the recent reports, earlier cancer patients used to travel to Bikaner by train but now they come to Sangrur Cancer Hospital for treatment.Mr. Singla said that he has personally been working for a long time to provide relief to the patients suffering from chronic diseases like cancer and committed to further strengthen the health institutions to make Sangrur constituency cancer free under the guidance of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh. He said that recently the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had sanctioned 15 crore for the PET-CT machine and soon this advanced machine would be installed in the cancer hospital for the treatment of patients.

The Cabinet Minister said that more than 90 per cent of the patients treated at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital were treated free of cost as chemotherapy drugs, general medicines and surgical treatments were provided at up to 70% discount given on price at the hospital with the aim of providing treatment facility to the cancer victims at very limited rates. In addition to this, special discounts for treatment on behalf of Tata Hospital and cashless treatment up to Rs. 1.5 lakh under the Maukh Mantri Cancer Rahat kosh Yojna. He said that in the last 5 years more than 26,000 patients have been treated here.On this occasion the Director of Tata Memorial Center Mumbai Dr. R.A. Badwe thanked the Punjab Government and Cabinet Minister Vijay Inder Singla for the initiative. He said that Mr. Vijay Inder Singla as MP in 2013 has inaugurated The Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital with a capacity of 30 beds which was sanctioned by the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh under the joint venture of Tata Memorial Center Mumbai and the Punjab Government. He said that the Tata Memorial Center uses a fully computerized system keeping in view the precious time of the patients and it is providing a great facility to the needy patients on affordable prices. On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Mr. Ramvir, Director Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center Dr. Rakesh Kapoor, Chief Engineer, PWD Engineer N.R. Goyal, HDFC Branch Banking Head, North-2 of the Vineet Arora Dr. Nitin Maratha, Dr. Suash Kulkarni, Dr. Rahatdeep Singh Brar, Dr. Sankalp Sancheti and Dr. Shweta Talan and hospital staff and other dignitaries were also present.
